Galilei Galileo 1564 - 1642 Italian Scientist

Galileo was renowned for his epochmaking contribution to physics, astronomy, and scientific philosophy. He is regarded as the Chief founder of modern science. Galileo was born in Pisa, Italy. He studied medicine at Pisa University, and became professor of mathematics at Padua, where he improved the refracting telescope, with which he found craters on the moon and the moons of Jupiter. He also observed the phases of Venus which indicated that the planets circled around the sun rather than the earth.
